24.07.2007 19:34 New attacks and new arrests in Siberia
On July 23, 2007, in Angarsk (Irkutsk region) 5 young men attacked 3 eco-camp participants on their way from the manifestation organized in memory of Ilya Borodaenko who died in the result of a neo-nazi attack on July 21. The attackers demanded from the ecologists to stop giving evidence against their arrested friends. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured. On the same day, in Irkutsk, several neo-nazis attempted to beat another eco-camp participant. According to the last police statements, there are already 20 people detained (8 of them arrested) in connection with the attack on the eco-camp on July 21. The detained people come from different Siberian cities and towns. Police recognize 21 people as victims of this attack, including 1 person dead and 8 people seriously injured.

Beside Moscow, the incident took place in Omsk, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod and St. Petersburg. The most high profile murders, in all probability committed with a hate motive, were the ones on the antifascist Ivan Khutorskoj (Kostolom) and the Orthodox priest Daniil Sysoev.
